Atlanta, GA, November 17, 2015–AssetOptics, a leader in cloud-based CMMS/EAM solutions, today announced that onshore oil and gas drilling provider Horizontal Well Drillers (HWD) has selected AssetOptics as a core component of its new information management system, which runs completely on the Salesforce Platform. Company Chief Financial Officer Larry Compton said AssetOptics has subsequently been integral to the firm’s efforts to earn the American Petroleum Institute’s API Spec Q2 certification, as well.

“When I came to Horizontal Well Drillers, one of my first major projects turned into a complete design and deployment of new information management systems,” said Compton. “I had worked with AssetOptics before, and it was an easy call to use the solution again. It is highly customizable and works as well for a service provider as it does for a manufacturer. It also provides the preventative maintenance, audit trails, document storage, key performance indicators and other features required for a Quality Management initiative.”

AssetOptics is a component of HWD’s Salesforce deployment, which Compton initially selected as a CRM (customer relations management) tool. Compton determined that Force.com modules would be able to handle all the information management activities for the oilfield service enterprise, with Asset Optics playing a pivotal role. “AssetOptics is the heart of our operations management system because it supports purchasing, work orders, asset and inventory tracking, and maintenance programs, and it integrates very well with HWD’s accounting application,” he noted.

AssetOptics will serve as the company’s quality management system (QMS), supporting its efforts to meet and maintain API Spec Q2 requirements. API Spec Q2 is the first-ever QMS certification for service supply organizations in the oil and natural gas industry. “HWD’s API Q2 certification will help ensure that we remain competitive and operate at the highest standard of performance,” said Jeremy Klein, President of Horizontal Well Drillers.

“Many organizations struggle to maintain the records and other data they need for certification compliance, which is often a symptom of poor information management as a whole,” said AssetOptics Founder Mike Edwards. “HWD and Compton took the perceptive and proactive step of making enterprise-wide information management a priority, knowing that their efforts would streamline the quality assurance process. I am gratified that they chose AssetOptics as a key player for both efforts.”
